In addition to being professional and productive, we also pride ourselves on having a fun culture here at Fierce – we call it the “Fierce Fun Factor” and we even consider it when we hire people.
Periodically we try to out-prank each other – it’s our demented way of showing affection for each other.
Our Director of Training, Aimee Windmiller-Wood is a big fan of Daniel Pink – so are most of my colleagues. Daniel was in town last week on a book tour for his new book, Drive - The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us. I went and saw him speak at the Seattle Chamber of Commerce. While I was watching him speak, I came up with an idea – What if I could get Daniel to stop in on the Fierce Conversations class that Aimee was teaching at our office??? I couldn’t resist – it would be the ultimate prank!
After his keynote, I found him nearby at the Elliott Bay Book Company, where all authors pay homage when they visit Seattle. I told him about my plan and he was game! I wish you could have seen the look on Aimee’s face when I brought Daniel Pink into her class, right after she had just mentioned and recommended his new book. Priceless :).
